Not yet on LinkedIn? I have created a short video that will show you how to set up your LinkedIn account:
To set up your LinkedIn account, you need to go to the LinkedIn.com homepage and on the right hand side of this homepage, is a simple sign-up form and it’s only a couple of steps you need to create your account. The first thing you need to do is to put in your first name, your surname, your email address and enter your password which can be a mixture of letters and characters. It needs to be at least 6 characters and then click on the join button.
Now, on the next screen, you need to start up on the basic of your profile. You need to say where you’re based which is the UK in this case. Are you employed or are you a business owner? You’ll have different options.
If you’re employed, you’ll be asked to put in the company and the job title. If you are a business owner or self-employed, you’ll also have the option of industry and the company name of the business that you own. Put in the postcode of your business and put in the name of your company and then select your industry.
Don’t worry if you can’t something that precisely matches your industry. Put in the closes connection that you can find and then click on ‘create my profile’. Now, LinkedIn wants to help you straight away find people who you might know.
One way you can find more people on LinkedIn is to put in your email address and password. So the first thing that happens after you have created your LinkedIn account, it gives you the option to do that, to give in the login of the email and LinkedIn will search to see if any of your friends who are on your email are on LinkedIn and you can straight away email those people and tell them that you are on LinkedIn and ask them to connect with you.
