If you want followers on Twitter, you need to follow people first. And you need to make sure they are the right people. If your tweets are interesting, some of these people will follow you back.
For example, if you’re a Dermatologist, think about who will be interested in what you have to say. You may want to follow health & beauty bloggers, Eczema charities, beauty bloggers, and Psoriasis support groups. To attract these people, your tweets need to do three things:
- Inform people: Tell people about the latest news e.g. A new cream that helps alleviate Eczema. This demonstrates that you have a good understanding of your chosen subject.
- Educate people: Tell people something they didn’t know. e.g. A tip on how to hide Acne scars. This will build your credibility.
- Engage with people: Invite your audience to ask you questions. If you see a tweet that you have an opinion on, respond to it. This will make you visible as well as accessible to your audience. When you have a conversation with someone, not only do they see your tweets, but their entire audience see them as well.
