If you’re going to employ an SEO consultant, make sure they can speak English. One commonly employed SEO method is to leave comments on relevant blogs that include links back to your website. Here are examples of blog comments that I WON’T be publishing:
"I undoubtedly did not know that. Learnt something new right now! Thanks for that".
"I just needed to say this really is an awesome weblog, many thanks for your post!"
"Enjoyed examining this, very good stuff, appreciate it".
"Thank you for sharing this information with us…Cheers"
"For what its worth I will be back again tomorrow, extremely inspiring. Later".
"Magnificent piece of writing, much of the material was particularly valuable".
"Hey there admin, just wanted to leave a quick comment to say that I liked your post".
"Extremely educating blog, bookmarked the web-site in interest to see far more!"
The above comments all came from SEO consultants that were blatantly trying to put links on my blog. There is no subtlety. Had they actually taken the time to read the blog post and write a comment that was relevant to the blog, I might have published them. These are all spammers.
The moral of the story: If you’re going to hire an SEO consultant, ensure that they can read and write proper English. Ask your SEO consultant who works for them and where they are based. If they are not UK based and English is not their mother tongue, they should at the very least have an English degree. If your SEO company won’t disclose who works for them, don’t hire them!
